DESIGN CODE

The listed vessels are designed to PD5500 Category 2, which for most applications provides the most economic vessel scantlings. For a given design, Category 1 vessels are of exactly the same thickness material but the welds are subject to 100% NDT.

Category 3 vessels are only subject to visual inspection of welds and whilst some small vessels can be economically viable, this category generally results in thicker vessels due to the restricted design stress. Vessels designed to ASME Vlll can vary in thickness (+/-) when compared to the equivalent PD5500 vessel.

Hartwell vessel engineers with many years of design experience and aided by the latest computer software can guide clients to achieve the optimum design code/category for a particular application.

Hartwell Manufacturing are a privately owned company, who have been providing high-quality machining and fabrication services to the industry, since 1974.
